Facelift

As the aging process progresses, the skin also undergoes changes that have effects on the head and neck area, loosening and sagging of the skin along with deep and obvious wrinkles on the skin surface. These changes are mainly by a decrease in skin elasticity due to changes in the collagen proportion and elastin tissues, as well as a decrease in skin water, adipose tissue, and weakening of the subcutaneous layer muscles . As mentioned, the result is loosening and sagging of the skin, which makes it look extra.

Face lifting can greatly correct this sagging and wrinkles, and revitalize you. The right age or time to do a facelift regardless of age is when you want your fresh face back.

Face lifting represents a type of plastic and cosmetic surgery. The purpose of this surgery is to remove the face skin and its underlying tissue to eliminate sagging skin and rejuvenate the face.

In cheek lift or midface, the middle area of the face and cheeks is pulled up in the opposite direction of gravity. In neck lift in addition to pulling the skin, the platysma should also be stretched and rejuvenated to achieve the desired and long-lasting result.

The facelift can be done in an open method through several centimeters incisions that start from behind the hairline in the migraine area and end after passing from the ear side to the back of the ear or closed method (endoscopic). The choice between the two methods depends on the amount of excess skin and your expectations of the surgery.

For example, through endoscopy, only the tissue can be moved and stretched, and the extra skin can not be removed. This is also true for pseudo-lifts performed by, for example, face-lift yarns, which make the result less desirable.

Since the progress of aging is not stopped by lifting surgery, the surgery result is not permanent and it may be necessary to repeat this after 7 to 10 years. To prevent the abnormal result of losing the natural facial mimicry, all wrinkles on the face can not be corrected, for example, vertical lines around the lips. To prevent the surgical face, the possible limits of rejuvenation should be recognized and respected.

Facelift techniques

SMAS Lifting

FaceLift

In this technique, the SMAS layer, which is a strong layer between the skin and the facial muscles, is the main basis for moving and pulling tissue. This layer is separated and stretched from its underlying tissues, and the excess is cut and sewn to the tight areas. There are other ways, such as double-layering or folding diamonds. Performing these operations on the SMAS layer has a great effect on the result.

This technique is used in methods such as S-Lift, Fogli-Lift, Soft-Lift, and MACS-Lift.

In this type of lifting, only the skin is pulled and no operation is performed on the SMAS layer. As mentioned, if the SMAS tissue is not pulled, the surgical result’s durability will not last for a long time.

Liquid-Lift

In this type of lifting, the face is volumed by injecting fluids such as fat or hyaluronic acid. The shelf life of this lift depends on the shelf life of the injected fluid and should be repeated after the effect disappears.

Recovery period and anesthesia type:

The recovery length varies from person to person and depends on the type and size of the surgery. Accordingly, attendance in public places varies from one to eight weeks after surgery.

The facelift can be performed depending on the mental and physical condition of the patient and the size of the operation, by local anesthesia along with taking sleeping pills or general anesthesia. The surgery duration varies from 2 to 4 hours depending on the number of cases and the operation area.
